1983 Turismo 2.2
It did have the 2.2L 4-cylinder, which made 96 hp when new, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It was a faded white, with a tan interior, and almost solid chrome wheel covers. The fastback shape made it look sporty, but it really wasn't. It didn't matter to me, I had my own car. I performed my very first oil change on this car.

In 1983, the Volkswagen engine went out of production, so a joint Chrysler/ Peugeot 1.6 L engine was used instead. The Omni 024 was renamed the Charger. The Plymouth Turismo was introduced as a companion entry for 1983, with the TC3 designation now discontinued. [1]

Partway into in 1983, the Omni, Horizon, Turismo, and Charger dropped their base engine from the 1.7 VW to a 1.6 liter Peugeot engine.. Four-speed manual rated at 28/33 ** Plymouth Turismo 5-speed 2.2 oddly rated 26/35 rather than 26/36. The 1986 cars had newly-required center-mounted brake lights along with anti-rattle padding for the jack.
